GOB tables Anti-Sexual Harassment Bill

Minister of Human Development and Families, Dolores Balderamos Garcia rose this morning to present the Anti-Sexual Harassment Bill 2024.  It is one of two bills that the minister presented.  Details were not given on the Bill but it was noted that the bill would be a reflection of the administration’s zero tolerance of sexual crimes and harassment.  She noted that the Bill would be fleshed out further upon its second reading.  For now, the Bill will be forwarded to the Public Service, Labour, Industry and Trade Committee for examination, consideration and report.  The second bill presented involves the Disabilities Act.  Prior to delving into the Bill, the minister gave acknowledgements to persons, who over the years, have contributed to the community of disabled persons including the late Honorable Philip Goldson.

During her presentation, Minister Balderamos-Garcia noted that the National Assembly lacks proper access for disabled persons.  She also noted that this Bill serves to establish a commission for persons with disabilities and also to promote, protect and insure the full and equal benefits and treatments for disabled persons, among other objectives.
