There is a map in circulation that shows a weather system projected to impact Belize directly. While the system is still a few days away from entering the western Caribbean, it has heightened the alert of residents due to the possible direct path to the country. In speaking with the Chief MET Officer, Ronald Gordon, our newsroom was told that the map is a true indication of the system, and they are monitoring its movements. Gordon did say, however, that currently, all indications are that the system has a very low chance of developing further as it moves into the western Caribbean. He noted that it is important to not take preparation for granted as these systems are open to change as time passes. Meanwhile, according to the US Hurricane Center, the chances of formation for this system over the next week is at twenty percent.
