Special Senate Select Committee Hearing Canceled Without Notice

Special Senate Select Committee Hearing Canceled Without Notice

Five days ago the National Assembly issued a release indicating that the seventh hearing of the Special Senate Select committee would be held today, June 24.  The hearing was scheduled to start at eleven o’clock this morning but that did not happen.  It is a curious situation as this has become a norm where hearings get cancelled and there is no notification to our newsroom on the cancelation or postponement.  Today, our news reporter was on standby to receive the live streaming while our Belmopan correspondent waited for 90 minutes before realizing that the session was not going to happen.  A similar situation occurred last month where the hearing scheduled for May 29 was a no-go.  In that episode of the Senate inquiries, former Minister of Investment and Trade, Erwin Contreras, did not appear.  Our correspondent reached out to the committee’s President, Janelle Chanona, but she denied to comment
