Man Charged with Murder and Robbery in Cruz Magana Shooting Case

Police have arrested and charged one man in connection with the fatal shooting of Cruz Magana last month. Twenty-one-year-old Belize City resident Robert Arnold has been charged with one count of murder and one count of robbery in relation to the incident. On June 3, 32-year-old Magana was at his home in Fresh Pond Village, Belize District, where his family’s business is located. Two masked men showed up at the store, stole cash, and jewelry from Magana’s family members, and then shot him dead in front of them. Following the incident Commissioner of Police Chester Williams said that police had detained two people days after the incident, but laying charges would be difficult since the culprits wore masks during the incident.  Despite that, however, Love News understands that investigators have collected sufficient evidence for the arrest.
