Government Empowers Local Contractors to Bid for Projects

The government held a workshop yesterday to train private sector contractors from the Placencia Peninsula in the procedures for bidding for government contracts. The event sought to provide contractors with best practices when bidding for government contracts funded by these international financial institutions (IFS). Several procurement and consultant experts focused on common mistakes to avoid when attempting to win contract awards and the standards expected by IFIs. Fayne Nicasio a Senior Economist in the Ministry of Economic Development spoke about the importance of the workshops.

The event was organized by the Inter-American Development Bank, the Caribbean Development Bank, and the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing. Marlon Martin, Procurement Consultant at the IDB, explained that the event is expected to result in the smoother implementation and approval of projects funded by IFIs.

A similar event will be held tomorrow in the Orange Walk District
