The Ministry of Education has taken steps to expand online connectivity in schools across the country. With this expansion, 283 schools across the country will have access to reliable, high speed internet to support them in their studies. In a significant step toward bridging the digital divide and enhancing educational opportunities, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology (MoECST) has signed two contracts with Digi, the national telecommunications company, to continue and expand the ConnectED program. The expansion will enable online connectivity for educational purposes, benefiting an estimated 78,000 students and 4,500 teachers. By connecting computers to the internet, the program also connects young minds to limitless possibilities in learning and development. The official signing ceremony took place at Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic School in Ladyville, Belize District. During the event, MoECST also made a valuable contribution to the school’s digital resources by donating 21 Chromebook computers, further reinforcing its commitment to integrating technology into education.
