Tonight, a Belize City man accused of stealing his ex-girlfriend’s bed sheets is behind bars after being unable to post bail. Thirty-one-year-old Michael Martinez appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with a single count of theft. He initially pleaded guilty but after the facts were read, he changed his plea to not guilty. He was offered bail of five hundred dollars but since he was unable to meet it, he was remanded to the Belie Central Prison. Martinez is due back in court on August 26. Allegations against him are that on July 6, he stole a black bed sheet valued at ten dollars from off the clothesline of his ex, Keisha Petillo.
