For the second time this month, a pair of American retirees were targeted by armed robbers at their home in the Cayo District. On Tuesday, 74-year-old Ralph Pilley, was at home near mile 6 on Mountain Pine Ridge Road when six men armed with rifles barged inside. The men then held up Pilley at gunpoint, tied him up, and demanded money before ransacked his home. Pilley told police the bandits then took several electronics, jewelry, cash, and his wallet before making off with a white Suburu 2016 SUV and a red 2021 Jeep Gladiator. The attack on the elderly man comes only weeks after his wife was targeted and attacked at the home by armed robbers. On September 3, Pilley’s wife, 75-year-old Mary Baker was at home alone when she heard someone knock on the door. Baker went to make checks and after opening the door, two masked men pointed firearms at her. Similarly, she was tied up and struck to the head by one of the thieves. The men then stole jewelry, cash, credit cards, and Pilley’s licensed firearm before fleeing the scene. Baker was later transported to the hospital by Pilley, who was out exercising during the attack. Police have not detained any suspects for the aggravated burglaries. ////
