Police are investigating an attempted murder following a shooting incident on Friday night in Belize City.  According to police, at about 8:30 p.m., a male individual arrived at Precinct No. 1 Police Station reporting that he had been shot. He was immediately assisted by uniformed officers and transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for medical treatment.  The injured man was later identified as 25-year-old Justin Gentle, a Belizean construction worker of the corner of Tigris and Dean Streets. Police say Gentle sustained gunshot injuries to his body.  Initial investigations reveal that around 8:25 p.m., Gentle and several other persons were socializing along the street side near the Old Chon Saan Building on Euphrates Avenue when two male persons armed with a firearm approached and fired several shots in their direction, injuring Gentle. The attackers then fled the scene on foot, running down Euphrates Avenue. The scene was visited and processed by Scenes of Crime personnel, where a 9mm expended shell casing was recovered. Police have identified three men as persons of interest in this case.
