Autism Awareness Talent Show Highlights Special Needs Capabilities

Activities for Autism Awareness Month continued this week with a special talent show at St. Peter’s Anglican School in Orange Walk. The school, which houses a special education department, held the Autism’s Got Talent event on Thursday. Students and teachers took the stage performing dances, poems, and other presentations while being cheered on by the rest of the school. Yara Cal, a teacher at St. Peter’s said that the talent show was aimed at showing the capabilities of the special-needs students and encouraging students and parents to be more inclusive. 

Shamira Coye a teacher at the school and the parent of an autistic child spoke on the importance of parental support for autistic children and gave a special message to parents.

Activities for Autism Awareness Month continue in Belize City tomorrow morning with the annual Autism Awareness Walk.
