BDF Soldier to Face Trial for Assaulting Police Officers and Disorderly Conduct

Twenty-six-year-old Belize Defense Force soldier Freddy Grijalva is set to appear in court in October on several charges. Grijalva appeared in court today charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, one count of using threatening words, one count of using insulting words, one count of using obscene language and one count of disorderly conduct. He was given his disclosure, which included twenty-three pages of documentary evidence and a DVD. His trial will begin on October 24. He is accused of behaving disorderly at the Queen Street Police Station in November of 2022, where he allegedly committed the offenses. Grijalva is currently out on bail valued at two thousand dollars.
