BEL Ensures No Power Shedding Tonight Despite Mexican Supply Shortfall

There is some good news to share on the electricity front, well, at least for tonight.  Belize Electricity Limited issued a release this evening at five o’clock, assuring consumers that there will be NO shedding exercise tonight. Despite, the CFE in Mexico being unable to give us power after seven o’clock tonight, with the West Lake gas turbine now online, BEL has estimated that there will be enough local supply to meet tonight’s demand.  The release did give a little heads up, however, saying, quote, “Customers are reminded that power outages for maintenance and system improvements, as well as unscheduled power interruptions due to unexpected factors or causes outside of our control, may still occur.”  End of quote.
