Yesterday, we reported that a Belize City family was displaced due to a fire. While the neigbours told us it was a family of two, it turns out it was a family of six, including a mother and four children who lost everything in the blaze. The National Fire Service has since concluded its investigation and determined the fire was caused by an electrical flaw. Station Supervisor, Kenneth Mortis, told Love News that the situation is tragic, but underscores the importance of heeding fire safety warnings issued by the fire department.
Mortis also took issue with the criticism of area residents that the fire department was late to the scene.
As we’ve said, the woman renting the house has children between the ages of one and six years old. An appeal on Facebook has been launched to source clothes and other essentials for her and her children.
