Belize City Labourer Charged with Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with Minor

A resident of Santa Barbara Street, Belize City, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after he was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.  The 20-year-old labourer, Mark Steven Godoy, was taken to court today after allegations that he engaged in unlawful sex with a 14-year-old child on two occasions within one week.  The incident occurred back in March this year, but charges were only recently levied.  The magistrate has ordered a psychiatric evaluation to be conducted on Godoy, making this the second pending evaluation ordered by the court.  Back in July last year, he was arraigned for gun offenses, resulting in eventual bail and a pending psychiatric evaluation.  In court today, Godoy was asked whether he was on any medication, but the court could not confirm.  He is scheduled to reappear before the magistrate on July 16.
