A Belize City housewife, Michelle Eulah Gabb, is on bail after being charged with grievous harm for allegedly attacking another woman with a wooden stick. 55-year-old Gabb of Albert Street, appeared unrepresented before a Senior Magistrate in Court #2, where she pleaded not guilty to the single charge. The incident reportedly left the victim, Yolanda Allen, with head injuries. The allegations stem from an altercation on Saturday, March 8, during which Gabb is accused of intentionally and unlawfully causing grievous harm to Allen. According to police reports, Allen, a 55-year-old self-employed newspaper vendor, reported to Precinct 1 Police Station that she was sitting on Albert Street West when Gabb approached her, wielding a stick approximately seven feet long and two inches wide. Allen stated that Gabb, with whom she had argued earlier that day near the Michael Finnegan Market shouted at her before striking her twice on the head. Allen recounted that she attempted to block the blows with her hands and tried to flee, but was prevented from doing so by a bystander. She further stated that Gabb continued to strike her until Gabb’s daughter intervened, shouting for her mother to stop. Allen then managed to escape on her bicycle and rode to the police station to file a report. She complained of pain to her right hand and expressed fear for her life. The court granted Gabb bail in the sum of $2,000, plus one surety of the same amount, which she was able to meet by noon. Conditions of her bail include that she must not interfere with any members of Allen’s family or any prosecution witnesses, and she must maintain a distance of at least 25 feet from Allen. Gabb is scheduled to return to court on May 6.
