Belize Government Collaborates with CABEI to Benefit Fisheries Sector

The Government of Belize held a meeting this week with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), to discuss initiatives that would benefit Belize’s fisheries sector and coastal areas. The meeting was held on Wednesday with representatives from the Ministry of Blue Economy and Civil Aviation as well as the Fisheries Department in attendance. The meeting aimed to explore avenues for cooperation, exchange ideas, and outline ongoing and potential joint initiatives to foster the responsible management of the nation’s blue spaces and resources. Blue Economy Director Felicia Cruz gave spoke on some of the areas of concern that were identified.

Cruz added that supporting the health of the barrier reef was also identified as a high-priority area and that the Ministry intends to continue working with CABEI to identify interventions to further the country’s sustainable development agenda.
