Belize Hosts Mundo Maya Workshop to Promote Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism

Belize is hosting a pivotal event aimed at celebrating the cultural heritage of the ancient Maya civilization and charting a sustainable future for tourism in the region. The Ministry of Tourism & Diaspora Relations, in collaboration with the Institute of Archaeology, has organized the Mundo Maya Strategic Workshop and the annual Belize Archaeology Symposium. The events promote awareness and appreciation for Maya history and bring stakeholders from across the Mundo Maya region. Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Tourism Nicole Solano spoke about the efforts.

Honduras’ Vice Minister of Tourism Reizel Vilorio spoke about the importance of converging with her regional counterparts at the event and how it seeks to boost tourism numbers.

The events are held under the theme “Sustainable Legacies: Exploring Ancient Maya Environmental Adaptations and Resilience”.
