Belize Territorial Volunteers to Make Annual Trip to Border Markers in Southern Belize

This weekend, the Belize Territorial Volunteers (BTV) will be making their annual trip to Belize’s border markers in the south, and are calling on members of the public to join them. The group will head to the Gracias Adios monument, Belize’s southernmost land border with Guatemala. The BTV has been traveling to the area for the past fifteen years to raise awareness of the border dispute between Belize and its neighbor. BTV Leader, Will Maheia, explained that the trip has a special meaning.

Maheia explained that while tension between the BTV and Guatemalan armed forces has arisen in the past, he expects the trip to be a peaceful and safe journey to Belize’s border points.

The trip leaves at 7am on Saturday, April 29 from the Punta Gorda Town.
