Belize U-19 Basketball Team Prepares to Face Argentina Amid Criticism of Support

Belize’s National U-19 Basketball Team is facing off against Argentina tonight in the Fiba 2024 AmeriCup after suffering a humiliating loss against Team USA. While the young core has been able to put on a brilliant display of skills during the tournament, many have criticized the team’s short time for practice. Our newsroom understands that two of the team’s star players, Josiah Moseley and Douglas Langford, reside and study in the US, which made it difficult for them to practice with the team before heading to Argentina. Additionally, citizens have been crucial about the lack of financial support provided to the team by the government. Today, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rodwell Ferguson, was asked about the shortcomings, which he chalked up to a lack of funding.

We’ll have the results of the team’s final game tomorrow.
