Belizean Man Faces Sentencing in Mexico for Illegal Weapon Possession

A Belizean man has been convicted of carrying an illegal weapon at the Customs Subteniente Lopez, Chetumal.  The man, only identified as Samuel O, was reportedly found with a nine millimeter firearm and seventeen rounds of ammunition as he made his way through the Mexican Customs checkpoint.  The Rivera News article noted that sentencing is still pending.  Our newsroom reached out to Belize’s Ambassador to Mexico, Oscar Arnold, who says he is aware of the situation but is yet to be briefed or given details by the Mexican authorities.
