Belize’s Central Medical Laboratory Set for Major Upgrades with EU Funding

The Central Medical Laboratory will see major upgrades within the next few months. The Ministry of Health and Wellness in Collaboration with Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and 1.3-million-dollar funding from the European Union launched the Central Medical Laboratory Retrofitting Project today. The project includes architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing improvements. Minister of Health and Wellness, Kevin Bernard says the initiative is geared towards better health for all. 

The retrofitting project is being conducted under the Health Sector Support Program. PAHO representative to Belize Dr. Karen Lewis Bell spoke the initiative behind the Program.  

The project is expected to be completed in late February 2025.
