This morning saw the launch of a program under the Good Governance Unit that would primarily build capacity among public officers through administrative law training and perhaps most importantly, to develop an agenda for good governance. The program has a timespan of twenty four months and is being funded through a CARSI grant accessed through the US Embassy in Belmopan. The official launch at the Biltmore saw the Minister of Public Service Henry Usher deliver the keynote address. In an interview with the media, Minister Usher explained that the works under the good governance project should not be confused with that of the People’s Constitution Commission (PCC).
The other keynote address was delivered by Kamesh Chivukula, Political Officer at the US Embassy. He explained that the initiative highlights the US government’s support of good governance.
The project launch was held at the Biltmore Plaza.
