Commissioner of Indigenous Peoples Affairs Greg Ch’oc to Demmit Office at the end of January

Commissioner of Indigenous Peoples Affairs, Greg Ch’oc will be demitting office at the end of this month. Ch’oc’s contract will be coming to an end and he has indicated that he will not be returning to the post. The office was created by the Briceno Administration as a way of improving its relationship with the Mayan Community. But why is Ch’oc, who is a well-known Mayan activist, not returning? Prime Minister John Briceno says the trained attorney will be returning to his law-practice.

Choc was appointed as the Commissioner of Indigenous Peoples Affairs in January 2021.
