Just after seven o’clock last night, Corozal Police and members of the Crimes Investigation Branch responded to information of a shooting near Diego Street in Corozal Town. Officers made checks in the Halls Layout area, where they were informed that a male victim had been shot and transported via ambulance to the Corozal Community Hospital. Upon arrival at the hospital, police encountered 34-year-old Charles Itzab, a Belizean laborer of Zuzuc Street in the Venezuelan Site. Itzab was observed suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his body. Preliminary investigations revealed that at approximately 7:15 p.m., Itzab was riding his bicycle on an unnamed street when an unidentified individual approached and opened fire, hitting him multiple times. The assailant then fled into nearby bushes and remains at large. Anyone with information is urged to contact Corozal Police.
