The application process for criminal records is on its way to going digital. Cabinet has given the green light to digitize the process, making it easier and more efficient. According to this week’s brief from Cabinet, applicants will no longer have to go to a police station to apply or pay for the record. A full service will soon be accessible online and payments can be made on the online platform or designated cashier locations. Additionally, the government will arrange for set pickup locations with the option of receiving the records via email. Love News understands that the system will also allow for applicants to track the status of the records either through email or text messages. As it currently stands, applications are done face to face at police stations and could take up to two weeks for delivery. The other matter that arose this week in Cabinet was the operations at the western border in Benque Viejo del Carmen.
