A tourist from the Czech Republic was the victim of an armed robbery on Saturday night near the Red Hut Inn in the Bella Vista area of Belize City. According to police, around 11pm, the Crimes Investigation Branch received information of a robbery in the area. Officers responded and met with 32-year-old Richard Weis, a software developer from the Czech Republic, who reported the incident. Weis stated that between 10:30 p.m. and 11pm, while walking to check in at the Red Hut Inn, he was approached by three dark-complexioned male individuals. One of the men brandished a black handgun and pointed it at him. A brief struggle ensued before the men managed to rob him of several personal items. The items stolen included one Google Pixel cellphone with Mexican phone number 987-103-2314 valued at 600 US dollars, one backpack valued at 50 US dollars, one power bank worth 50 US dollars, and a USB-C charger worth 10 US dollars, bringing the total value of the stolen property to 710 US dollars. The suspects fled the scene on separate motorcycles that had been parked at the entrance of the street.
