Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde believes that his party has been able to achieve several milestones since taking office in 2020. At a recent event held by the People’s United Party, Hyde spoke about the party’s efforts to complete much of what was set out in the plan Belize manifesto. He noted that while the Briceno Administration has completed much work, it has much more to do to ensure the standard of living improves across the country.

Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister: “We’ve done a lot but there’s a lot more to do. We have a lot of people to reach still. Even in my constituency in all our constituencies we still have a lot of work, we still have a lot of people to reach because where we are coming from has been really hard and we continue to push to try to reach you to make sure that every single person who is supposed to get a land gets a land. Every single child goes to high school and completes high school because that is the way we fight crime. That is the way we fight crime. Every child that goes to school and completes school that’s a child that’s far less likely to get in gang activity, far less likely to get killed, far less likely to kill somebody. And we understand the importance of ensuring that our people get decent housing. We will push down doors, we will fight for you everyday to make sure that you are living in a decent house because if you’re not living in a decent house then your child cannot hope, cannot dream, cannot imagine a future behind where you are. I can tell you that because I’ve been there.”
Hyde spoke at the endorsement convention of Belize Rural North Area Representative Marconi Leal Senior.
