Deputy Prime Minister Expresses Gratitude Amid to Supporters

And while Opposition Leader Moses “Shyne” Barrow was on the attack, the Deputy Prime Minister was in a mood of gratitude, as he recognized the many who have supported him in his political career for the past 26 years.

Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister: “The people I thank the most are the people who never stray, the people who have stuck with me to this day. Since I was a skinny kid at the age of 20 the people of Lake I have stood with me, have voted for me, have voted for people who I asked them to vote for, have voted for me when it wasn’t fashionable to do so, have voted for me when all around us people were voting red. I left and came back after several years and they still take me back. They make the world know. They make the world know they are for me and I am for them. No next boy can come close a woman for that matter. They give me love even when they curse me out. Don’t repeat that, you’ll get me in trouble. They give me love even when they curse me out. I live with them. Tough love, but love. I live with them and they live with me. I have tried my best to honor that love and to show gratitude for that love. I give my people everything I’ve got, but I’ve not done it alone. There are others who have helped me help my people. Kings Park, I dare tell you, don’t have nothing on Gungulung. Allan said that when you go to Gungulung it’s like you’re in the states. The man who helped me the most to transform that place has been my brother from Cayo South. I couldn’t do it without you bro. The students in my era have been treated with love. We pay school fees hand over fist. It’s never been like this. And the man who does that for me is the man next to me, my brother from Freetown. Enough thanks my brother. . The people on Mahagan Street are moving up like the Jeffersons and the man who has made that possible is my brother from Pickstock. I appreciate it a lot. I’m not gonna let you off of the hook because I need my Ring Road Park. Thank you sir. And Minister Dolores, where is she? She’s been kind to us. Every so often she calls and says, Cordel I have some extra grocery bags for you. And then I tell her I love her because I want more, right? And how could I forget the Minister of Health? I harassed him for help with medical bills almost as much as I harassed Francis for school bills and the man never let me down. And my brother, the member for Fort George, you always got my back ever since I was trying to get back. And all the other ministers and representatives, Florencio, Micho, all these guys, Milin, all these guys have been there for me whenever I’ve called upon them to help me take care of my people. We do it as a team, we do it together. So I wanna say thanks a lot. But of course, none of this would have been possible without the continued support of my friend next to me, my friend on the left, the Prime Minister, the boss of all bosses because if he doesn’t approve the bill we can’t get it done. And he never ever lets us down.”

We will have more from today’s debate in the days ahead in our newscasts.
