Digitization Plans for Vital Statistics Unit Could Lead to Job Cuts

Also relating to the VSU, we have reported that the government is looking to digitize the process which would mean that you would no longer have to line up outside the Vital Stats office.  What is also means, however, is that there will not be the need for as many employees as it currently has.

Magali Marin Young, Former Attorney General of Belize: “Vital Statistics will go through an organizational change when it is digitized because a lot of the positions will become obsolete with digitization. You will have more IT support in the background than clerks having to type and all that.”

Reporter: That’s because the digitization would include being able to apply online, correct? Pay online and what delivery pick up?

Magali Marin Young, Former Attorney General of Belize: “So, yes.”

Tune into our final segment tomorrow with former Attorney General Magali Marin-Young.
