Doris Grant Secures $50K Bail Amid Theft and Deception Charges

Doris Grant was able to meet a fifty thousand dollar bail just after five o’clock this evening after an arraignment in court.  The Reggae Street resident was charged with 14 counts of theft; 14 counts of obtaining property by deception and 12 counts of obtaining money transfer by deception.  Grant is the common-law-wife of Alex Underwood, a well-known gang figure who was recently charged for being a gang member.  The charges against Grant stem from allegations that between January and July 2022 had collected one hundred and twenty-one thousand dollars through deceptive means.  Grant appeared before Magistrate Lois Young and was defended by Attorney Dickie Bradley.  Conditions to her bail is to surrender all travel documents, and to report to the police station weekly, and stay away from all witnesses lined up by the prosecution.  As we reported on Friday, she was in police custody and was to be taken to court.  She, however, experienced medical complications in the cell block and was taken for medical treatment.
