Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Stann Creek Village: BELTRAIDE Provides Business Training

Women entrepreneurs from Red Bank Village, Stann Creek District are receiving training on how to build and enhance their businesses through the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE). The thirty-two participants are being trained on creating sustainable enterprises, business risk assessment and the role self-esteem played in optimizing their potential as business owners. The training is being facilitated by BELTRAIDE trainers who completed the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Gender Entrepreneurship Together (GET Ahead) Training program earlier this year. Tremett Perriot, Training Facilitator, with Belize Training and Employment Center (BTEC), said that the major goal of the training program is to strengthen the businesses of the participants so they can better provide for their families. Perriot said that the ILO has held similar training programs in many parts of the world and will be carried out all over the country in the next few weeks.

The training sessions in Red Bank began on August 7 and conclude on the 11th. The sessions then move to Belize City the following week. Sessions will he held simultaneously in Valley of Peace, Cayo District, and San Estevan Village, Orange Walk District from August 25 to 29. The sessions will be held in the Toledo district in September and will conclude with a return to Belize City and Orange Walk in October.
