Fire Displaces Two Families in Belize City

Two families have been displaced following a fire in Belize City. Thirty-five-year-old Mary Meighan, a mother of three, says that she was in bed just before one o’clock this morning when she was awoken by the smell of smoke. Shortly after they discovered that the house beside them belonging to her sister-in-law Brittany Williams was on fire. Meighan said she and her partner saved what they could, which was not much. Meanwhile, Williams, who has two children, lost everything. Meighan says that the fire especially hurt as she was just rebuilding, having lost most of her belongings in a fire back in March. She recounted the tragic series of events for us this evening.
