Forest Department Holds Centennial Tree Plantings Across Belize

The Forest Department held tree plantings in several areas today, as part of its centennial celebrations. The department started celebrating its 100th anniversary earlier this month with a number of activities including its forest Symposium held on Wednesday. Deputy Chief Forest Officer, John Pinelo Junior, told Love News that the tree plantings are both practical and symbolic of the work that the department has been doing as well as the work that is to come.

The Forest Department’s centennial celebrations are being held under the theme “From roots to canopy: a centennial journey.” The celebrations end with a gala in September.
