Guilty Plea in High Court for 2019 Attempted Murder Case

Javier Jones, who was charged with the 2019 attempted murder of Shane Jones, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in the High Court of Belize today. Javier appeared before Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft, where he pleaded guilty to a single count of use of deadly means of harm. Justice Sancroft accepted the plea and differed sentencing until Friday, December 8. On April 17, 2019, Shane Jones was socializing at a house on Youth for the Future Drive in Belize City when Javier arrived. Shane went to the back of the yard where Javier met him and shot him twice in the abdomen before fleeing the scene. Shane Jones was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was treated and eventually released. The men are not related in any way.
