Guilty Plea in Wounding Case: Belize City Man Claims Self-Defense

A Belize City man pleaded guilty to a charge of wounding today but claims that the woman he harmed attacked him first. Twenty-eight-year-old Dellon Flores wasted no time in pleading guilty when he appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this afternoon. He admitted to hitting one Diana Flores in the head with a rock, causing an open wound, but that she had injured him first, but police refused to take his statement when he tried to file a report. For his guilty plea, he was fined five hundred dollars plus five dollars cost of court. He needs to pay his fine by March 19, 2024, or he faces five months in prison.
