Gunfire Near Preschool Sends Children Running for Cover in Belize City

A broad daylight shooting in Belize City this morning sent several minors and adults scrambling for safety. Just before midday, shots rang out at the corner of Faber’s Road and Central American Boulevard near the Port Loyola Preschool. Our newsroom understands that two men were walking in the area when they were targeted by a lone gunman. The assailant unleashed a barrage of bullets that sent several pre-primary and primary school students, who had just been let out for their lunch hour, seeking a safe space. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the incident has left resident in the area on edge. Our news spoke to Stephany Andrews, whose 11-year-old daughter was forced to seek shelter when the gunfire erupted.

Police are yet to provide official details on the matter.
