A Hattieville man is out on bail after being accused of injuring his sister.Late yesterday evening, 27-year-old William Alexander Jones was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on a charge of harm against his sister, Melissa Jones. The charge stems from an incident January 5, in which Jones is accused of intentionally causing harm to his sister. Appearing unrepresented before in court, Jones pleaded not guilty to the charge. With no objection to bail from the prosecution, the Magistrate granted him bail of $600, which he met with one surety of the same amount. During his arraignment, Jones informed the court that he had already filed a report against his sister, claiming that she frequently interfered with him whenever they encountered each other. He also asked the court to implement measures to prevent his sister from further interference. As part of his bail conditions, Jones was ordered not to contact or interfere with the virtual complainant, his sister, and to maintain a distance of at least 100 yards from her. Jones is scheduled to return to court on February 18, 2025. He noted that he has filed a counter-complaint against his sister, but she has not yet been arrested or charged in connection with his allegations.
