Health Ministry Switches to Private Telecom Provider for Cost Savings

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has switched telephone providers, going from a national company to a privately owned entity. The ministry swapped BTL’s services this month and inked a two-year contract with Smart. The change has resulted in various departments and clinics being forced to change telephone numbers. Minister of Health Kevin Bernard was asked to comment on the sudden change yesterday, and he chalked it up to cost-saving measures.

The switch became effective May 1.
