Minister of Immigration Kareem Musa paid a visit to the western border yesterday where he was able to observe the early morning movements. Notably, the minister witness firsthand the crossing of students from Peten, Guatemala to Benque Viejo Town for educational purposes. According to Minister Musa, the implementation of a border crossing card has facilitated the ease for students, in particular, when coming in and out of the country.
Minister Musa continues his tour to various immigration points as well as key offices under his portfolio of labour and governance. Earlier this month, he embarked on a familiarization tour accompanied by his CEO Tanya Santos. During the visit, the Minister and CEO met directly with staff members, engaging in open discussions on ongoing projects, operational challenges, and individual concerns. The meetings were aimed at ensuring that employees understand the direction of the ministry and feel supported as changes are implemented. Minister Musa underscored the importance of communication, teamwork, and staff engagement as the ministry continues its transformation agenda.
Officials say similar engagements will continue as the ministry works to modernize its operations and deliver more efficient and effective services to the Belizean public./
