Caribbean Shores Area Representative, Kareem Musa, has told Love News that if and when the opportunity comes for him to take over the PUP Leadership, he would be open to the idea. In an interview yesterday, our newsroom was able to seek his perspectives on several political issues, ranging from Prime Minister John Briceno’s announcement of a possible last term, to the appointment of Lee Mark Chang in the Mesopotamia constituency. Here is how that interview went.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “I’ve learned in politics that you never say never. It’s certainly not something that is on the front burner for me right now. I want to continue to be the best area representative to my people in Caribbean Shores and the best minister in whatever portfolio I am granted by the Prime Minister. And so I’m not going to say never but definitely when that time comes I think that leadership depends on the people, not the individual. It has to be something that the people want. And if that is what the people want, then I would offer myself.”
Reporter: Talk to me about how you feel heading into another election cycle.
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “Yeah, you know, every election cycle you probably have to approach it a little differently. Different strategies but at the same time the core has to be love and hard work. At the end of the day, I think that our team has performed well. We are going on an excellent track record. We can always do better for Caribbean Shores and we will be doing better in the upcoming term. I’m fairly confident that Caribbean Shores will be returning for the blue this election.”
Reporter: I’m hoping you will give me a political take on Mr. Lee Mark Chang offering himself for Mesopotamia after already losing in Freetown and Caribbean Shores. What are your thoughts of him, his candidacy ?
Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “Yeah, well Mr. Chang was a formidable candidate for me in Caribbean Shores and I’ve seen him offer himself in Mesopotamia. I do believe though it’s a little late in the game to enter the race. But if you were to look at it objectively, I don’t necessarily feel it’s to get in to win but more so to have Shyne lose. So it’s more about canceling each other out at this point which only favors the People’s United Party.”
Prime Minister Briceno had announced his possible retirement from politics when he appeared on a local talk show last Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lee Mark Chang launched his candidacy on Tuesday with a press conference.
