Man Fined for Punching Sister-in-Law in Belize City

 A Belize City man was fined in court today for punching his sister-in-law in the face. Twenty-two-year-old, Damion Saldano appeared unrepresented in Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Chief Magistrate, Jayani Wegodapola. He was charged with a single count of wounding. He immediately pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined one thousand dollars plus five dollars cost of court. He has until September 15 to pay his fine or he will face six months in prison. The Chief Magistrate told Saldano that she will not be tolerating a repeat offender and that if he ends up back in court, his penalty will be considerably stiffer. Reports are that on Saturday, July 8, Saldano and the complainant, 18-year-old, Jenesia Arnold got into a confrontation and he punched her in the jaw. He also reportedly threw a pint bottle at her.
