Man Remanded for Violent Home Invasion and Stabbing Attack in Belize City

Belize City resident, twenty-one-year-old Rhondane Neal, has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after allegedly stabbing his ex-lover’s new boyfriend multiple times. Neal appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, charged with a single count of aggravated burglary.  He pleaded not guilty to the charge, but he was denied bail despite the prosecution not making an objection to it. Neal was remanded until October 10.  Neal is accused of breaking into the home of 19-year-old, Yasmine Cocom, the mother of his 13-month-old child, in the early morning of Tuesday, August 8. Based on an account from the young girl’s mother, the ex-lover had snuck into the house and attacked 22-year-old, Nieri Chuquin. Chuquin sustained six stab wounds to the body.
