Man Succumbs to Injuries After Serious Sunday Night Traffic Accident

There was another fatal road traffic accident on Sunday night. Just before seven o’clock, 28-year-old Lorenzo Maldonado and two others were traveling to Yo Creek Village in a 4-door sedan on San Antonio Road when he decided to make a U-turn to buy gas. However, as Maldonado turned left, 24-year-old Edgar Gongora attempted to overtake and crash into the front of her vehicle. Gongora was flung to the pavement and sustained severe head and body injuries. He was rushed to the Northern Regional Hospital but later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial in critical condition. Unfortunately, despite receiving medical treatment, on Monday morning, Gongora succumbed to the injuries he received just after 8:20. Police have since interviewed Maldonado, a technician from the Cayo District; their investigations continue.
