Ministry of Agriculture Promotes Improved Grasses for Livestock Sector

The Ministry of Agriculture is working with stakeholders in the livestock sector to improve the quality of meat produced. Today, the ministry held a Pasture Grass Demonstration Plot Field Day and highlighted the importance of establishing pastures with improved grasses. The event provided information on the importance of planting improved grasses in pasture paddocks and the nutritional importance of doing so. Andrew Mejia, the ministry’s Livestock Coordinator, explained that presentations were made to farmers, stakeholders, and students from the University of Belize.

Love News also spoke to Kevin Teisen, a representative of Reimers Feed Mill, who explained the various benefits that come with planting nutritional grasses in pastures.

The field day was attended by seventy (70) participants which included farmers, technicians, Extension Officers, and students from the University of Belize.
