Among the claims made against Moses Shyne Barrow, his US Visa has come up as one of the reasons he refuses to surrender leadership. Many have commented on social media that Barrow wants to maintain his seat in order to retain the visa. He has since denied those allegations saying that there will be many more claims made against him for as long as he stands up for reform within the UDP.

Moses “Shyne” Barrow, Leader of the Opposition: “It just doesn’t make sense. Who would spend ten years in a constituency, spending all of their money, working and investing in their community, getting duly elected, the Americans can decide whoever they want to go to their country so no one becomes a member of parliament, and all members of parliament have a diplomatic passport and a diplomatic visa, you don’t need to be the Leader of the Opposition to enjoy that so that’s absolutely ridiculous. Why would I be spending millions of dollars ? I could then just invest in a company in the United States. I could get Disney to apply for me to be a creative and do it like that. There’s no need for me to be leader of the UDP, Leader of the Opposition and be spending these millions of my personal money if I did not have the vision that I said I have.”
Barrow was deported to Belize in 2019 but was granted a US Visa in August 2021.
