Mother Arraigned for Child Abuse After Incident with 14-Year-Old Daughter

Victoria Violet Clauch walked out of the magistrate’s court today with a big smile as though she had just won the lottery.  It turns out, however, that she was just arraigned on a charge of child abuse.  The 51-year-old mother of a Faber’s Road address was charged with wounding after her 14-year-old daughter was observed with a bite mark to the right shoulder, a cut to the left thumb and swollen hands.  Clauch pleaded not guilty and told the court that the child had been living with her father for the past week.  According to court statements, the incident occurred on Friday, September 25.  The mother was granted bail of fifteen hundred dollars with certain conditions.  She is scheduled to return to court on December 2.
