New Belize Currency Designs Set to Roll Out Soon, Says Prime Minister

The plan to introduce new designs for Belize’s money bills is well underway as just last the Central Bank of Belize presented the proposed designs to the Prime Minister.  Yesterday, the Prime Minister provided an update on a timeline for the release and how it would roll out.

John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: ‘The Governor of Central Bank came to my office I think about two weeks ago to show us the new dollars. We’re using the national heroes both George Price and Philip Goldson. They are the ones that are going to be on the face and so the new dollars that we introduce probably later this year or early next year will be with those ones. So it will be changed but we will have a lot of other features to protect against counterfeits so it has taken a process and also well we have to ease out the old dollar bills and as we get rid of some f them these are going to be introduced so it’s already done, it’s already been approved and we have presented to the Cabinet last year or early this year and now I’m told probably after the twenty first celebrations I want him to come and show the actual bills. So it’s coming.”

Love News understands that the bills will now bear the faces of the King Charles the Third as well as the country’s heroes, the Right Honourable George Cadle Price and the Honourable Philip Goldson.
