This afternoon marked the end of an intense two-week training program for newly promoted non-commissioned officers, with a closing ceremony held at the National Police Training Academy. The event celebrated the successful completion of both physical and theoretical training that had tested the endurance and skills of the participants. Representing the Commissioner of Police at the ceremony was Commander Administration, ACP Sandra Bowden, alongside other distinguished guests: Acting Director of Training, ASP Jane Usher; Commander of the Tactical and Protective Services Unit (T.P.S.U.), Jermaine Hyde; NITS Coordinator, Inspector Kenroy Elijio; and Dean of Academics, Dr. Priscilla Brown. In her speech to the newly promoted corporals, ACP Bowden commended the staff of the National Police Training Academy for their unwavering dedication to the success of the program. She acknowledged the rigorous efforts put into ensuring that the training was both challenging and rewarding for the participants. Speaking directly to the corporals, ACP Bowden encouraged them to take the lessons they had learned and apply them in their daily duties. “While it is easy to forget what you have learned,” she said, “it should not be because it is a lifelong experience.” Top performers of the training were recognized, with Cpl. Florentino Salam Jr. taking first place overall, followed by Cpl. Jorge Fernandez in second place, and Cpl. Arielle Chiu securing third. The ceremony brought to a close a vital chapter of professional development, leaving the newly promoted officers better equipped for their roles within the police force.
