Non-Competing Carnival Bands Gear Up for 2023 Road March in Belize

All this week the Love Crew has been bringing you coverage of mas camps in preparation for the 2023 carnival road march. While the carnival committee finished the scoring of all competing bands on Wednesday night, there are several non-competing bands that will be reveling in this year’s carnival. Last night the Love Crew went out to meet with those non-competing bands, one junior and three seniors to find out what they are bringing to the carnival festivities. Kurt Clare of Elusive Mas Band presented the band’s theme “Seduction: Experience Sexy.” Clare said that every year they speak with their revelers about competing in the carnival competition, and they always opt out saying that they are in the carnival for the fun of it.

Sunshine Masqueraders, a junior band that has been competing since 2003, opted out of the competition this year but will still be hitting the street 30 revelers strong under the theme “Gems from the Earth.” Band Leader Marilyn Young spoke on why the band decided to take this year off from competition.

The other non-competing bands are Titans Mas Band which is bringing two hundred and forty-nine revelers, and Fantasy Explosion, bringing out seventy-five revelers. If you won’t be attending the carnival personally we invite you to tune in to our live coverage.
