PM Unfazed by Allegations of Administration Involvement in Portico Agreement

The Prime Minister says he wasn’t surprised by David Gegg’s statements at the last hearing of the Senate Special Select Committee. On Wednesday, the Principal Portico Developer alleged that several members of the Barrow Administration knew about the controversial definitive agreement signed weeks before the 2020 elections. Gegg alleged that several of the former ministers were involved in the development of the agreement and were involved from its genesis. Today, the Prime Minister weighed on those comments and stated he wasn’t surprised.

Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “Everybody in Belize knew that the previous government knew about the definitive agreement. They signed it, they approved it so I was not in the least surprised.”

The former PM, Dean Barrow, has denied knowing Contreras signed the document.
